Hello blog friends, I can’t believe another week in a half has gone by since my post on Autumn’s 1 Birthday. If you were wondering where we have been and what we have been up to this blog is for you. Brandon’s Mom, Mimi, came down for a 12 day visit. Mimi is a 2nd grade teacher so of course she has the summers off. We always look forward to her summer visits to NM. How lucky are my kids to have a Mimi who is so involved in their lives. We loved having her here and I can’t lie, the extra set of hands during the day were such a blessing to me. She got in last Wednesday morning and we just got home from taking her to the airport now. Owen cried his little heart out when we were leaving the airport and didn’t stop until we got home. We are going to miss her so much! Thanks so much for coming to spend time with us and being here for Autumn’s 1st Birthday Mimi, we miss you already.
I have to admit the past month has kind of been a blur with our trip to Denver, Throwing a Baby Shower and Birthday Party in the same week, Owen starting Vacation Bible School, and having Company. Needless to say the million pictures I am about to post are going to be all out of order but I have so many I would like to share. Since my brain is a mess I am going to be done talking and will just get to the good stuff, pictures.
Last Wednesday (I think):
Thank goodness we have been getting some much needed rain in the evenings. Unfortunately that means being stuck indoors. What better thing to do on a rainy evening than build a fort/tent. The kids loved crawling in it and taking their flashlights along.
Last Thursday (I think):
This was another rainy evening and nothing to do. We decided to meet the Altman Family at McDonald’s for some Ice Cream and to let the kiddos run around and play. So much fun!
Last Friday:
This little Princess turned 1!!!!
So my helper and I got to work baking a mini cake & lots of cupcakes!
This Past Tuesday:
We had a low key morning hanging out with Mimi. Owen loves when Mimi reads to him. So Sweet!
Once we got dressed, Mimi and I took the kids to the park before the heat got really bad.
The famous Rollin Slide!
Autumn had so much fun going down this twisty slide and Owen loved going right behind her.
After Naptime Owen and I had a very special Mommy & Son date planned. We left Autumn with Mimi for some one on one time and Owen and I headed off to see Barney Live in Concert! Owen loves Barney (yes as in the purple dinosaur) so when Brandon and I heard he was coming to town we knew we couldn’t pass up an opportunity to take Owen.
It is very rare for Owen and I to have a special one on one date so I spoiled him just a bit. He got a bag of popcorn and a pepsi for during the show. He was so excited!
He LOVED the show!!!! Here he is singing “The Wheels on the Bus”.
Along with the hundreds of songs they sang, he loved doing the “Itsy Bitsy Spider.” At one point he got up to dance.
It was definitely worth it. Owen loved it and cried so hard when the show was over because he wanted more Barney! With two kids I cherish the times I get one on one with my children, what a wonderful & special time for Mommy and Owen!
Wednesday:
After Naps on Wednesday, Mimi and I took the kids to the Albuquerque Spray Park for some fun.
The Kids had a blast splashing around in the water sprayers!
Have I mentioned how attached Owen is to Mimi! He could not get enough of her!
Thanks again Altman Family for the adorable Flower Tankini for Autumn’s 1st Bday. It is so cute!
Later that evening we kept it pretty low key and hung around the house. Here is Autumn and Mimi having a tea party!
My kids have also become inseparable. On the left is Owen holding his sis while daddy reads them a book and the right is Owen trying to help his sis up onto the chair with him. So sweet, they love each other so much…at least for now!
Thursday:
In the morning Brandon and I took the kids to Hoot’s and then to Wendy’s for lunch while Mimi got a morning to sleep in. We met up with Kaitlyn and Olivia & the kiddos had a blast together. Of course I forgot my cam so no pic of that :(. As for the rest of the day we had a pretty low key afternoon just hanging out. Owen loves to play games now. His favorite include, Hullabaloo, Chutes ‘n’ Ladders, Yahtzee Jr, Memory & Go Fish!
Friday:
More park fun!
What a great Picture!
Owen’s new favorite, the Underdog! Go Daddy, Go!
The Girls!
And later that night was Vacation Bible School. Owen has been going to VBS for 4 weeks now. Its on Friday nights from 7:00-8:30pm for five weeks. Owen goes with all his best buds; Linkin, Finnley, Aiden, Averie, Owen, Ethan and Olivia. All the teachers say Owen and Olivia are attached at the hip the entire time. I’m not sure what we are going to do when this ends because we are getting quite used to going out to dinner with Matt & Kaitlyn on Friday nights while the kids are at VBS. Ahhh! The picture above is Owen & Olivia when we went to pick them up. They always leave with a popsicle in hand. Lucky Kids!
Saturday:
This is what a normal morning in the Burgess house. After Breakfast Owen & Autumn get their milk and go lay down in the play room to watch a cartoon, usually Little Einstein's. So precious!
Saturday was my turn to watch my niece for the day. Yippie! So while the girls were busy playing….
So were Mimi and Owen.
And after naps, I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to put sweet Abigail's hair in Pigtails!
My 2 + My Sister’s 1 = Busy & Chaotic. Wouldn’t change a thing!
Sunday:
All ready to head out to church with Mimi…
A failed attempt at a family picture!
And Bath in the Afternoon!
Love them sooooooo much!!!!!!!!!!
And for Mimi’s last night in New Mexico I decided to make a mexican dinner; Chicken & Bean Burrito’s, Spanish Rice & Corn. Owen’s new favorite chore is to set the table for dinner. So cute & a big help to mommy!
For those of you who hung in there and remained faithful enough to make it all the way to the end of this post, I’ll leave you with something funny!
Yes friends, girls learn at a very young age how to multitask. Here is Autumn talking on her pretend cell phone while drinking her milk! She cracks me up! Hope you enjoyed reading about the past week or so in the Burgess house.
As for now, Myself and both kids have a terrible cold, so there are lots of Kleenex, Movies, and Gatorade going on over here! Have a great week and we miss you lots already Mimi!
