Thanksgiving 2009

A couple days ago was Thanksgiving, and in God's word it tells us, "That in all things we are to give thanks." My Thanksgiving prayer for my family is that in whatever we choose to do in life that we will remember to do it with a grateful heart. We had a wonderful Thanksgiving Celebration at our house. We had my parents, my grandmother, my Aunt, Uncle and two cousins from Nevada and our very good friend Gavin over to join in our Thanksgiving feast. The day went very smooth and we, as always, had way too much food, but it was all so delicious! It breaks my heart on days like this, when we have so much food on the table in front of us, to think of all the families out there who are so unfortunate and don't have the opportunity to have wonderful holidays like most of us do. It's such a sad world we live in and that is just one of the many many reasons we should always remember to give Thanks for everything we have. Even the small and simple things. Okay, sorry enough downer talk, it just kills me to think about it. After we all ate and got the leftovers all cleaned up and put away, a few of us headed over to our friends house to watch the Bronco's game. Our very good friends Matt & Libby have NFL network and we don't, so since they were out of town for the holidays they were nice enough to let us go watch the game over at their house. All in all it was a wonderful day! Happy Turkey Day Everyone and Go Broncos!!

Effects of eating too much Turkey!!!!

This was seriously the highlight of the day! Our very good friend Gavin joined in our Thanksgiving feast along with my family. Anyway, he apparently ate way too much food throughout the day because he just kept falling asleep! So funny, if you notice in a few pictures how a normal Thanksgiving is going on around him and he doesn't even notice. It was pretty loud around him and he was literally passed out! My favorite is the one of him all snuggled up with a stuffed animal and a nice pink blankie! Lol.

Thanksgiving Helper...

Okay, so I am assuming everyone who follows are blog are either really close friends or family members, so please please please, no making fun of how I look in these pictures. I have no make-up on, really messy hair and am wearing my pj's. I look absolutely horrible because I have been terribly sick and had just woke up and started cooking, but Owen was too cute so I had to post some pictures. Since I have been really sick and we were hosting Thanksgiving at our house this year, Owen decided to lend me a helping hand in the kitchen. I was sauteing the celery and onions for my stuffing and Owen was very eager to help me. Here are some pictures of his wonderful assistance.

Owen's new Knit Sweater...

A couple days ago, Owen received a surprise package in the mail. His Great-Nana Burgess sent him a beautifully hand knit Sweater. It is a little big for him now, but I am sure he will be able to wear it next winter. Did I mention Brandon's Grandmother who knit the sweater is in her late 80's. Yes, she is an amazing woman and we are honored she took the time to make Owen such a spacial gift. So Happy with his new sweater!

Stay away from the Burgess Family!

As if the holidays aren't stressful enough, the Burgess' had to get sick right in the middle of it! So here is the run down of the last couple days. I went to urgent care yesterday due to body aches, chills, fever and a very soar throat. They diagnosed me with the flu, not H1N1, just the regular old flu and sent me home with Tamiflu and some cough medicine. Then, this morning Owen had his 18 month Dr. Appointment and had to get 3 shots today. O' yea and did I mention he was diagnosed with a double ear infection! Yikes. He just had one 3 weeks ago. Due to his excessive amount of ear infections, the doctor has referred us to an ENT to talk about getting tubes put in his ears. Poor Baby! Well, as for Brandon he hasn't gotten sick yet but it's probably just a matter of time before he does. So beware the Burgess household is a giant cesspool of germs right now! Please pray for health in our family! Sorry for venting, but I am sick of being sick and locked up in my house for days!

This is Owen and I after his shots this morning. He let me cuddle with him for 45 min. on the couch. Such a sweet moment since they don't happen too often anymore. Here is Owen sitting with his sick mommy on the couch watching some cartoons. Such a sweet boy taking care of his mommy!

Owen in my Slippers...

Owen has become obsessed with shoes! Just like his mommy. We try and keep our shoes put away in the closet since he carries them all over the house and sometimes they aren't so easy to find when your trying to run out the door. Here are some pictures of Owen playing with my slippers I left out.

Isn't he so cute. He is wearing the shirt I bought him at the concert we went to a couple weeks ago. It says "My Mom Rocks" on it. Too Cute!

It's Begining to Look A Lot Like Christmas...

Call me crazy, my husband already has, but last week I decorated the inside of the house for Christmas. I figured since it takes so long setting everything up that you might as well enjoy it as long as possible. Right? Plus, it's one more thing I don't have to worry about doing after Thanksgiving. Well, the inside is done and now I am just waiting for Brandon to get up on the roof and hang our outside Christmas lights. He promised to do it this Friday. Yea, I love Christmas time! Here are a few pictures of our Christmas house. Owen is in a few because he saw me pull the camera out and of course had to stand right in front of it. Shy, not so much! This picture came out a little dark, but you can tell its our giant Christmas tree!I wrapped all my lamp shades with some extra ribbon I had. Like it?Here is the Dinning Room. Like my presents on my wall. I love to wrap things, so I decided to wrap some of my wall art in my house to look like Giant Presents on the wall. You Like? Some more of my wrapped wall art.The stair case looked much prettier last year without the beautiful baby gate, but hey, safety 1st!

Owen in his Spiderman Shoes...

I am so lucky to have such awesome friends! My neighbor and very good friend across the street has a little boy who is about 8 months older than Owen. Well, I am so blessed because she gives me a ton of hand-me-down clothes and shoes for Owen. About a week ago she brought over a giant bag of stuff for Owen! Their was this adorable pair of Spiderman Light-Up shoes that happen to fit Owen perfectly. He was having so much fun stomping all over the house making them light up. Too Cute!A Hulk T-Shirt and Spiderman shoes. He is all BOY!He is also fascinated with the Velcro straps.

Sleepsack...

For those of you who don't know what a sleep sack is, it is basically a big blanket that zips up in the front to prevent babies from kicking off their blankets in the middle of the night so they stay warm. It is also supposed to decrease the SIDS rate since they can't suffocate themselves with loose blankets. Cause we all know kids move around like crazy at night. Well anyway, Owen has been sleeping in a sleep sack since he was a newborn and he finally outgrew his 12 month sack. I was so sad and going crazy cause he loves that thing. Well, I was able to find toddler sizes online, so I ordered him a 2T-3T size sack. Well I received the package today and it is HUGE! We were cracking up because it looked big enough to fit me. I guess its not that funny since I am a midget. Anyway, I tried it on for Brandon and he told me to put my hair in pig tails cause I already looked like a ridiculous 5 year old. Well if that wasn't humiliating enough he insisted that I post the picture on the blog! So Funny. Owen was looking at me like I absolutely lost my mind.It may not be a bad costume idea for Halloween right? I could go as Owen. LOL!

Happy Birthday to Me...

Well, it's true, I am officially a quarter of a Century. Yikes! We celebrated yesterday since everyone in my family had the day off. Thank you everyone for such an awesome day! Owen, Brandon and I went out to dinner with my family and a couple friends and then came back to our house for some cake and ice cream. We went to eat at Fudruckers for some delicious burgers. We had to go somewhere that is quick, easy and loud enough to take a one year old. Brandon actually made his very first cake yesterday for my B-Day and it was amazing! I think he is officially the new baker in the family, he really impressed us all! Everyone was so generous to me and I got some amazing presents. Thank You so much Everyone, you are all way to good to me! Here is a slide show from the day, enjoy!

The Zoo, take 5?

Okay, so I really try not to bore you all with pictures from the zoo all the time, but the weather has been so perfect here lately that that's all we seem to do for Play day's anymore. When your a stay at home mom a day out is very nice and since we have annual zoo passes why wouldn't we? Well I didn't do a slide show since I have posted like a million of those lately, so I just picked out my 3 favorite pictures because they are too cute not to share with all of you!Seriously, they are so adorable posing for this picture!

Here is Owen, Owen & Abby. They were so cute taking a rest sitting on this bench at the zoo. Here is Owen feeding some crasins to Abby. They crack me up!

Jeremy Camp & Natalie Grant Concert...

It's very rare that Brandon and I ever go to concerts, but it just so happens we have been to two in the past two months. I guess that's what happens when your favorite singers/bands come to town within weeks of each other. Last night was the Jeremy Camp, Natalie Grant and Bebo Norman concert. They are all awesome Christian bands if anyone is into Contemporary Christian music. Anyway, the concert Rocked literally, it was so much fun and we definitely got our money's worth since it lasted over 3 hours! O yea, and did I mention thanks to some Friends of ours we got to sit in the forth row!!!! Here are a few pics from the night. Here is Bebo Norman. Wow, he has an awesome voice. And here is my favorite female Christian singer Natalie Grant. She has such a powerful voice it gave me goose pimples!Isn't she gorgeous? And last, but definitely not least, Jeremy Camp. Brandon and I have been fans of his forever and have been waiting for him to come in concert here. Words can't even express how great of a singer he is. We love you Jeremy!

Give them an Inch and they take a Mile...

So you know those crazy sayings your parents always said that you swore you never would never say? Well this is one of them my mom always said to me and my sister, "I give you an inch and you take a mile!" I know kind of corny, but very true. A couple months back Brandon and I converted our front bonus room into a play room for Owen. It has two huge game sack chairs, a TV, and tons of toys, books and room to run around. We figured it would control the mess of toys being dragged all over the house and keep them in one confined area. Well, here is how it is working...Here is his huge beautiful room we created for him.

And here is what's supposed to be my entryway that is supposed to be nice and clean and toy free. Yeah right! He still drags his toys all over the house.

Making Daddy Proud!

Brandon and I have always said that we will support our kids in whatever they want to do and not push them to do something we want them to do. Well, deep down inside I know Brandon is hoping and praying that Owen will become the crazy sports fanatic that he is and take to Brandon's love of Football and Baseball. Lately, Owen has become quite fond of his little football. He carries it all over the house and loves to throw it back and forth with mommy all day long. We are thinking he may even be left handed, he always throws the ball with his left hand. Guess we will have to wait and see...

Owen in the Laundry Basket

The other day was Laundry day in the Burgess Household. Lots to catch up on since we were out of town for a few days. Well anyway, I ran upstairs to put away a load of laundry and came down to find Owen inside Brandon's Laundry basket. He was so proud of himself for getting in there but quickly realized he had no clue how to get out. He cracks me up!"Hey Mommy, Look what I did!"So happy!Realizing he is not sure how to get out of the mess he got himself into!
