Owen had his 2nd field trip this morning. The field trip was to the McCall’s Pumpkin Patch in Moriarty, NM. Moriarty is about an hour drive from our house heading East. It actually worked out good that his field trip was there since we have gone every year for the past three years. It has become our new fall family tradition and Owen just LOVES it there! I have to say the trip didn’t really go very well :(. I’ll try and keep this short, but you know me I tend to babble. Okay here we go…
So you all know Autumn got an ear infection on Wednesday. Well after 24hrs on antibiotics she seemed much better. So all day Thursday she was doing fairly well. Had a normal day, a little whiny and clingy, but nothing too bad. Put her to bed at 8pm and things seemed fine. So about 12:30am she woke up with a nasty cough and screaming her little lungs out. Brandon and I attempted multiple times to calm her down and get her back to sleep. Finally about 1:30am I decided she needed to be elevated because every time she laid flat she kept waking up in a coughing/screaming attack. Anyway, the solution was that I ended up sleeping, or lack there of, in the recliner chair in her room with her on my chest. Needless to say, neither of us got any sleep last night. We got up this morning threw some clothes on and headed out the door to make the drive to Owen’s field trip as we did not want him to have to miss it. We arrived a little early at about 9:45am. Luckily not many people were there yet so we pretty much had the whole place to ourselves for the first 30 min. The kids did some of the activities and walked around to see the animals. At 10:30am we met up with Owen’s school and headed for the hayride out to go pick out our pumpkins. Well, after standing in line for a good 30 min. with a very fussy baby, we finally made it on the ride. Autumn had been fussy the whole morning up until this point, but by time we got on the hayride she lost it. And I mean LOST it. She was kicking, screaming, arching her back, basically having a fit. I felt so bad for everyone around us because she was screaming so loud. I think she was in pain, frustrated and very very very tired. Anyway, we picked our pumpkin as fast as we possibly could, got back on the hayride for another round of a screaming child, rushed to our car and headed back home as quickly as we possibly could. Luckily we had gotten there early to do the fun activities or Owen would have been really bummed. He was a good sport and said he had so much fun and thanked us so much for taking him. I do still feel really bad he could not stay and hang out with his good friend Jacob from school like we had planned. O well, there is always next year. I did somehow manage to get a lot of really cute pictures despite the very tough morning we had. The pictures seem like we actually had a great time and Autumn looks pretty happy in them all. Just let me reassure you, that was not the case. Hope you enjoy!
2009 & 2010 Trip to the Pumpkin Patch.
Burgess Family 2011 – McCall’s Pumpkin Patch.
Welcome to Bunnyville
I believe this was Autumn’s favorite part. She has a little obsession with cows. They are her favorite animal by far.
Making the hike up the big hill to the tunnel slides. Owen LOVES these slides and asked if we could put a tunnel slide in our backyard. Haha
Here is Owen on the slide 3 years in a row. 2009, 2010 & 2011.
Autumn seemed to enjoy the slide too!
Another fun 3 year side by side. Couldn’t resist. Look how much he has grown!
Fun with Daddy in the corn box!
This may be one of my favorite pictures ever! She wanted so badly to just lift this pumpkin up.
Soooooo Handsome!!!!
Daddy, Autumn, Owen and the whole crew from school behind them!
In the loooonnnnggggg line for the hayride. This is the point where Autumn was really starting to lose it.
You can tell she is a little irritated in this pic. And Owen was being such a patient kind little boy.
And here is our sweet ride. All Owen can talk about is how he got to ride on the hay. Lol. He makes me laugh.
When the tractor first started moving she seemed really excited…the excitement quickly wore off and then the huge meltdown began.
And Owen was just in pure fascination!
Out in the field picking a pumpkin!
Quick photo snap….
and back to the hayride with a screaming baby!
Owen and his Pumpkin. He was so excited to pick and carry his pumpkin all by himself. Such a big and independent boy!
Even though it was a rough rough morning, we really did enjoy ourselves. I am so happy to have a little family tradition to look forward to every year! Can’t wait to see what the pictures look like next year. And for the people who are wondering, no the day did not get any better once we left. Let’s just say Brandon and I are mentally and physically exhausted from today! It has been one of those day in parenting that you just simply want to be over and done with. I may end up in urgent care tomorrow with Autumn if her little cough gets bad again tonight so please keep the poor girl in your prayers. She is just miserable. Enjoy your weekend!!
