Per a very high number of requests, my parents being #1 on the list, I have decided to do a picture walk through of our new house.
We just moved up to Colorado and are currently residing in Littleton, CO which is part of the Denver metro area. Littleton is SW of Denver for those who aren’t familiar with the area. We officially sold our home back in NM with closing set for the end of the month. We decided to rent right now vs. buying because we want to make sure of what area we would like to live in before making such a ‘permanent’ decision since there are so many wonderful little cities in the metro area. If you all remember, Brandon and I drove up to Denver at the beginning of June and had basically 24 hours to find a home to rent. After viewing a handful of homes around the Denver Metro area, I was really beginning to worry we weren’t going to find anything that fit our criteria in our price range. The second to last house we viewed that day was the one we decided to put in an application on. After a nail biting 4 days, we heard back from the landlord that we GOT THE HOUSE! We honestly did not have to really sacrifice anything with this house. It is in a great school district for Owen next year and it is the exact amount of space we were hoping for and best of all it was in our price range!!!!
The house is 3 Bedrooms, 3.5 Baths, with a fully finished basement, two living areas on the main level, a nice big open kitchen and an amazing backyard with a beautiful deck. And I can’t even explain how much storage this house has, its amazing!!! We really hit the jackpot with this house, especially since she had 5 applications come in for the house on the same day!!! I truly believe God was really watching over us and directing us exactly where he wanted us to be. Our house is 1 mile from Brandon’s Dad’s, 2.4 miles from Brandon’s Aunt Bev and Uncle Don, 10 minuets from his Mom’s, 15 minutes from his Aunt Rose, 30 minutes from his Grandparents and about 40 from his Sister. Does it really get any better than that?
Okay, enough of my rambling and onto the walkthrough of the house. Two side notes 1.) I am absolutely terrible at taking pictures of rooms. Its really hard to stand in a room and get a shot of the whole thing, so bare with me as some make be a bit crooked and awkward looking. 2.) Im really bad at choosing the correct lighting on my camera while taking pictures of rooms. Here we go…
Welcome to our new home. The house is located at the end of a nice quiet cul de sac with a park within walking distance. There are also tons of kids on the cul de sac ranging from the ages of 1-10. Yay!!!
Here is the view strait in the front door. If you look to your right you can see the stair case leading up to the second floor.
So when you walk in the front door, you walk into the formal Living and Dining area. We are currently using the ‘Living Room’ as our Office just like we did in our last home. Another huge selling point to this house, is that the main floor layout is almost identical to our last house back in NM.
A closer look into each individual room.
Turn the corner of the Dining Room and you walk right into our kitchen. The kitchen has great big cabinets and the most amazing Stove & Oven.
I have a split oversized oven and a 5 Burner Gas Stove!!!! My dreams come true. It’s on, come Thanksgiving!!!!
A eat in kitchen with bay windows.
And right off the kitchen is the Family Room with a Gas Fireplace with Built in floor to ceiling book shelves.
There are sliding glass doors with blinds in-between the glass that lead out onto the deck and backyard.
The deck is huge and there is a lot of grass for the kids to play in. We have spent every evening out back since we moved in. Its great!
So right off the family room you can either go strait (Left Pic) or turn right (Right Pic). If you go strait you get to the half bathroom and the laundry room and if you go right you come to a door which leads to the basement or the staircase to go upstairs.
Laundry Room and Half Bathroom.
Now we are heading Upstairs. Upstairs there is our Master Bedroom with its own bathroom, 2 Kids Bedrooms and a shared bathroom for the kids.
The Master Bedroom is the first room you come to up the stairs. It also has some nice bay windows like the kitchen eat in area.
The room has some really nice high ceilings and a huge walk in closet for Brandon and I to share (this is the 1st time Brandon and I have ever had to share closets, but its working out great so far).
And a nice big bathroom with a separate shower and tub.
There is a hallway upstairs when you walk out of the master bedroom that takes you to two bedrooms and hook a left and you come to the shared bathroom. Autumn’s room is the door on the left and Owen’s is the door on your right.
Owen’s Room. Both the kids rooms still need all their wall hangings and selves put up. It’s the last thing on my house to do list along with hanging up all our curtains. I do all my hanging stuff during naptime and bedtime, that’s mainly why the kids rooms are last on the list.
Autumn’s Room. Both rooms are really similar in size. If God decided to bless us with another child while we are still living in this house (no I am not preggo and no we are not trying right now), Owen and Autumn will share a bedroom for awhile until the baby is 1 and then depending on the sex of the next child we will then determine who gets their own room.
We decided when putting Autumn’s room together that we would turn her crib into a toddler bed. I can’t lie I was really nervous because Autumn is our wild child so I thought she would be getting out of her bed all night. Much to my surprise, she has done wonderful. She was definitely ready for a big girl bed. She hasn’t got out once! We did have 1 minor incidence the second night in the house, we went in her room at 2:30am because the monitor started beeping and she wasn’t in her bed. We both panicked and started running all over the house yelling for her. I finally looked under the crib where the monitor was and she was sound asleep under her crib on top of the monitor. It was both terrifying and hysterical all at the same time. Lol. Since then, no more incidences to report.
No longer my baby, she’s an official big girl now :”(
And here is the kids bathroom.
Heading downstairs back to the main floor, hook an immediate right, open the door and you head down into the basement.
The basement is home to the kids playroom and our guest bedroom. There is also a full bathroom and 3, yes 3 storage areas!
Playroom! The kids LOVE having the playroom in the basement. They think having a basement is awesome. I have to admit, so do I since I am from New Mexico and basements are unheard of there.
Tucked back in the corner of the basement is a very quiet and peaceful guest bedroom area. Its open to the play area but still tucked back in its own corner. Perfect! The door on the right is to a nice big walk in closet.
Since the dresser took up too much room in the play area, we decided to put it in the closet. Problem solved and still lots of room!
If you take an immediate right coming down the stairs into the basement there are two doors that lead to two more storage areas,
Tons of storage, TONS!!!!
There you have it, Casa De Burgess in Colorado! We love the house, the area and the kids have taken really well to all the change so far. They LOVE their new home and find new things to discover every day. Besides leaving my family, who I miss dearly, and some amazing friends, we couldn’t be happier!
