This past Sunday, the kids and I were invited to go on a fishing trip with Nana, Pampo, Auntie Kiki and Abigail. We woke up went to church, came home, ate an early lunch, and took early naps. Once the kiddos woke up from their naps we packed up and headed out for an afternoon of fishing fun. My parents are avid fishers so they were so excited to have all 3 grandkids come along. My sister and I were never big on fishing growing up so I think they are hoping the grandkids will love it so they are starting them young. We went about 30 miles Northwest to Zia Pueblo lake. We chose that lake because it is a very short drive, small, very quiet and you are almost guaranteed to catch fish. The kids had a BLAST! It was a beautiful day, not too hot and not too cold. Autumn and Abigail mainly waked around splashing in the water, eating snacks and throwing rocks in the lake. Owen fished the entire 3+ hours we were there. He is quite the little caster. Since he was having so much fun casting his rod and reeling it in we never ended up putting a hook on his line. He was so content doing what he was doing so why bother. He got to reel in a few small trout and bass fish on Nana & Pampo’s lines but for the most part he would much rather cast and reel over and over. It was a super super fun day spent with the family, if Daddy was there it would have made the day perfectly complete. Of course since I wasn’t fishing I took way too many pictures so I hope you enjoy and don’t get bored. If you don’t already know, I have an obsession with pictures. I love looking back on fun times.
Welcome to Zia Pueblo, New Mexico
Final Destination, Zia Pueblo Lake!
Pampo’s poor tackle box has seen better days. Guess this explains how much fishing my dad does!
Ready for some fishing fun! (In case you can’t make it out, Autumn’s Shirt reads, “My finger may be small but I already have Grandpa wrapped around it.” So so true!!!
The girls were on a mission the second we got there. Are they not ADORABLE?!?!?
Throwing rocks in the lake and watching them splash was the biggest hit!
PRECIOUS!
The girls were filthy within 5 minuets of getting all set up!
Autumn feeding Abigail Cheetos!
When my parents fish at this lake they catch and release since the fish are so small. Its perfect because the fish almost always swallow the hook so they just cut the line and throw them back so they don’t end up killing them. Win win situation. They catch fish but the fish still get to live. Anyway my dad put one of the fish my mom caught in this tub and let the girls play around with it. They thought it was so Cool and were not scared of it one bit. Owen on the other hand was terrified and WOULD NOT touch it. Haha.
Caught another one!
See what I mean. Owen would jump back like 100 feet if anyone was holding a fish. Animals terrify him. So funny!
Cutting the line getting ready to throw him back in.
Petting the fish. After tons of convincing, we got Owen to be brave enough to touch a fish. He put the tip of his finger to the fish and said, “ok, done!” He is hilarious!
Simply BEAUTIFUL!!! I Love this girl so much.
Snack Break with Pampo. Nana is too intense when fishing and wont stop for anything, not even food.
What a GREAT day! Thanks again Nana & Pampo for having us come along, it was a BLAST!!!!!

That same night after fishing was the Solar Eclipse. There hasn’t been one since 1994 so we tried our best to run out and snap a few pictures before it was over. We were totally unprepared and didn’t have the special glasses or anything but we tried our hardest to make the best of it. Albuquerque was supposed to be the best place to watch it so we knew we had to get at least one picture to look back on since the next one wont happen for another 11 years. For those who don’t know, a Solar Eclipse is when the moon is directly in front of the sun but not big enough to cover it so you can see the sun shinning out behind it. I think we were too early or too late, not sure which one, but here is what we got. Enjoy…
So cool!
