O my goodness this past Saturday morning was a blast! Brandon’s very sweet Aunt Rose called me a couple weeks ago and wanted to know if the kids and I would be interested in going to the Colorado Railroad Museum for a Day with Thomas. As in Thomas the Train! I told her that was a great idea and that the kids would LOVE that. My kids LOVE Thomas the train, what kid doesn’t!? She was so generous and treated the kids and I to a very fun filled and very memorable morning. Since we were a little late in getting tickets we were limited to only a few time slots so after discovering we are both early risers we decided on the 9:15am train ride, the kicker is you have to be there an hour before departure and it is in Golden, CO which is about a 25 minute drive. It was well worth a 7:50am departure time from our house and I think it worked out best to go early because later in the afternoon when we were leaving, the museum was packed and a bit chaotic.
Here is a little run down, we parked at about 8:25am. From there we were picked up about 8:35am by a giant bus (as in greyhound style bus) that shuttled us to the museum. Once we got off the bus and in line to ride Thomas it was about 8:55am. All our timing worked out perfect where we weren’t rushed but we also didn’t wait for hours on end either. Everything was smooth sailing and both kids were on their absolute BEST behavior all day! After our 30 minute train ride on Thomas we were off to discover all the train museum had to offer. We went to the imagination station where there were tons of train tables for the kids to play with, we hit up the tattoo shop where the kids got some work done, we visit a miniature train track, we went to a magic show, story time, petting farm, climbed up onto a real fire truck, climbed up on real trains, ate some delicious lunch and lastly we got to visit the souvenir shop to pick out a special toy from sweet Aunt Rose. To say we had a great morning with our Awesome Aunt would be a COMPLETE UNDERSTATEMENT. Thank you so so so so much Aunt Rose we had an absolute blast with you!
Aunt Rose and I said we could have stopped the morning with the bus ride because the kids were beyond ecstatic to ride that big giant bus. Lol. I wish I could be so overjoyed by a simple bus ride, gotta love kids.
And there’s our ride. I should have got a picture of Owen and Autumn’s face when Thomas pulled up. They were in complete and udder shock! They LOVE trains, especially THOMAS!!!!!!
All aboard Thomas the Train!
Owen wanted to sit in the very front car and since we were almost first in line, so that is exactly where we sat!
Owen was blown away by this roundabout. He was so into the interworking of what it did, why it did that, and how it did that. O’ my little engineer.
Welcome to Imagination Station. It blew me away that the entire time in here we did not witness 1 single fight over sharing between ANY of the kids. Crazy considering all these kids were trying to play with the same things at the same time, for this age group that boggles my mind. Guess they were all still in awe of just riding Thomas.
Getting some work done at the Tattoo Shop…
Autumn at the Petting Farm. Owen and Aunt Rose went to climb on the fire truck while Autumn and I went here. Owen is so timid around animals so we thought I’d be best to take him elsewhere. Autumn on the other hand loves animals.
Live Music prior to the Magic Show
Magic Show Fun.
When the Magician asked for a volunteer Autumn was one of the first to raise her hands. Although she didn’t get picked, it was pretty cute watching her fearlessly volunteer herself. She is too funny! And I absolutely LOVE the look on Owen’s face after a magic trick. He thought it was so neat! Can’t you just see the joy behind this smile?!
The kiddos being silly with Aunt Rose and I’s sunglasses while eating lunch. Haha.
The bus ride & car ride home. Owen NEVER falls asleep in the car, not even on road trips. Not this time though. This kid was out almost the second we hit the road. The kids wore themselves out. We left the house at 7:55am and didn’t get home until 12:25pm. It was a fun fun fun fun filled morning.
And here are their gift store selections. Owen got a Thomas the Train Domino Game and Autumn got a Rosie the Train toy.
Again a HUGE THANKS to Aunt Rose for a fun filled morning. You are so thoughtful and very generous. My kids and I had a blast spending the morning with you at the Railroad Museum. We LOVE YOU LOTS!!!!!!
