Elf on a Shelf

For anyone that doesn’t know what Elf on a Shelf is, here is a brief overview. Santa sends an Elf to your house around Thanksgiving time (our Elf arrives Dec. 1st). The Elf’s purpose is to watch after the household and then every night he fly's home to the North Pole to report to Santa who has been naughty or nice. Every night that he returns back to our house he is in a new spot in the house (usually up to no good or doing something silly). The 1 and only rule is that you can NEVER touch the elf or he loses his magic and then can’t fly home to report to Santa. With all that said, our Elf arrived on December 1st. Upon his arrival we sat down with the kids and read the Elf on a Shelf story to refresh the kids memory on his purpose. They were both so excited to see the Elf again but they insisted on renaming him from last year. This year they both agreed on Elfie the Monkey. Owen chose Elfie and Autumn chose Monkey (since the first day he was hanging upside down) so they settled on Elfie the Monkey, LOL! The kids love the little game and it brings Brandon and I so much joy to hear the pitter patter of the kids feet running around the house in the morning trying to find Elfie the Monkey, not to mention it becomes a great behavior reinforcement tool since “Elfie is always watching!” Here are some of the things Elfie the Monkey has been up to around here this year…

So much fun. I’ll be back with more Elfie the Monkey soon I’m sure since there are 14 days left.
