Christmas Cookie Decorating Party!

I am starting a new annual Christmas tradition with the kiddos, A Christmas Cookie Decorating Party. Since the kids and I make sugar cookies every Christmas anyway, I decided it would be fun to have some friends over to decorate with us. What kid doesn’t love to decorate Sugar Cookies with loads of candy? Owen invited 3 of his closest friends over and their siblings who happen to be Autumn’s two closest friends. There were 7 kids total including my kids and I think it was the perfect amount. When every one arrived we quickly got to decorating. It was a giant mess and SO SO SO much fun. The kids were so into it and I think they all consumed thousands of calories of pure sugar in the process. Once the kids were all done decorating their cookies, they all went to the basement playroom and played their little hearts out. They all got along perfectly with ZERO meltdowns, tattle telling, and or sharing issues. It was SO nice to be able to sit at the table while enjoying some coffee and Poppy seed Bread while having some nice adult conversation with my wonderful Mommy Friends. I am beyond grateful for the amazing group of friends we have made here. Owen has chosen some great friends at school which has in turn created some great friends for me too with their mom’s. It was such a fun morning and a tradition I can not wait to keep alive for years to come.

Here are the little name place goodie bags, I didn’t get a picture of 2 of the baggies. Each bag held a Candy Cane, Some Hershey Kisses and a wooden ornament for them to decorate with markers as well.

Autumn & Luke decorating away. Luke is Owen’s BFF, I can not begin to explain what a sweet boy Luke is. I am SO proud of my son for choosing such a great friend. Major bonus that his mom and I have really hit it off.

Keelan (Owen’s other good friend from preschool), Eisley, and Andrew (our neighbor). Eisley is a sweetie. She is Keelan’s little sister and is just 8 days older than Autumn. The girls get along great and have developed such a cute little friendship. There was lots of sampling their final products. Lol.

Owen & Autumn’s final masterpieces. Don’t you love how almost all of Owen’s cookies have a bite or two taken from them? I think he surpassed his sugar intake for the month! I set aside each of their favorite cookies and stuck them in the freezer so we have cookies to leave out for Santa Monday night.

The boys playing superhero's. They had a blast and could’ve spent all day playing with Superman and Batman.

Autumn and one of her BFF’s Mehlea. Mehlea is almost 4 and lives next door (Andrew’s little sister) and Autumn just absolutely loves this girl. The girls started to fade about two hours into our play day, I think they were getting sleepy, so we put on Frosty the Snowman for them to watch and relax a bit.

And once the word got out that the girls were watching a movie, everyone joined in. Haha, they are so adorable.

It was such a fun filled and extremely successful morning and a tradition that will go on for years to come! Yay!!!!!

And we finished off the day with a bit of last minute Christmas shopping in the bitter cold. I LOVE this snowy cold weather, it really feels like Christmas time now :)
