“You are a rich man,
You have strong Faith,
children who love you,
and a wife who adores you.”
-Courageous The Movie-
This statement is spot on for my Husband as well as my Father. They are two of the wealthiest men I know in all the ways that truly matter. They both have strong devotion to their families and most importantly to the Lord. I am honored beyond words to have the most amazing Husband as my Best Friend and the most excellent Father who continues to love and support me no matter what.
HAPPY FATHERS DAY Brandon & Dad! I LOVE you both more than words could ever express.
“A good man will obtain favor from the Lord.” –Proverbs 12:2
*****************************
Holidays that fall on weekends, such as Mother’s Day and Father’s Day, can be pretty rough on a family that does not have weekends off together as a family. Unfortunately none of our family members have weekends off together, meaning my sister and her husband, my parents and my husband. Since this whole month has been pretty chaotic, we could not find a day or time that worked for all of us to get together. The only solution we could come up with, was to split up all our time. The day was a bit crazy so please bare with me. This morning we woke up and went to church as a family. Came home, Brandon had to go to work and my parents met the kids and I at our house around 11am. We all headed to the annual Father’s Day car show our church puts on because my Dad and Owen LOVE cars. After the car show we headed back to our house. My dad opened up his gifts, and then the kids went down for their naps. My sister and Abigail came over about 1pm and brought a delicious chocolate cake to share while we all visit. At 3pm my Aunt Jeanette and Chris came over to visit since they happened to be in town for the weekend. I can not tell you how great it was to see them and catch up since it seems like forever since we have seen each other. Everyone left about 5pm and I quickly got to work in the kitchen to prepare dinner for Brandon while the kids burned off energy playing out back. At 6:30pm, Brandon got home and our family friend Gavin (aka “Brother G”) came over to enjoy Father’s Day dinner with us. We all ate dinner and then gave Brandon his father’s day gifts. Once the kids went to bed Brandon and Gavin had a nice evening of video games planned. And here I am now reflecting on my day and feeling a bit exhausted since I have been going non stop since 7:00 this morning. Here are some pictures I managed to snap from our crazy day. Enjoy and Happy Father’s Day to all you Dad’s out there!
My Dad and Owen were beyond excited to go look at all the cars. They are both really into ‘hot rods’ so they were on a mission to go find some. My Dad sure loves finally having a boy around to do these kind of things with. Owen and my Dad sure have a special bond!
Check out that Lamborghini and Shelby Cobra! Owen was so fascinated looking at all the cool cars.
Precious!
This car had some pretty cool vintage auto stuff on display in the back.
Autumn was not very pleased about having to sit in her stroller. She wants to do whatever brother gets to do.
The church also provided hot dogs, chips and drinks so we decided to eat lunch. Yum!
Are my kids the only kids who LOVE CHIPS?!?!
Owen said he wants a car like this someday. LOL. Not in a million years kid.
BATMOBILE! Super cool.
After the car show we went home for presents, cake and company…
Once we got home, Owen could not wait to give pampo the card him and Autumn made and the present they got him.
Pampo got a gift card for more books for his Nook and a hanging rack for all his fishing rods,
and my sister got him some cool new fishing shirts. Lol.
And these 3 kids have the hardest time when they have to ‘share’ Pampo. They literally all try and sit on his lap at the same time and then try and pull him in 3 different directions at once. My poor dad is SO loved!
Once all our company left and Daddy got home it was time to get our grub on. I let Brandon chose the menu since it was Father’s Day. I had him look through all my Recipes I pinned on Pinterest and told him I’d make anything on there. He chose,
Philly Cheese Steak Sloppy Joes, Steak Fried and Corn. I’m not gonna lie, I was a bit nervous about the Philly Cheese Steak Sloppy Joes because I have never made them before and I was sure they would not be anywhere near as good as actual Philly Cheese Steak Sandwiches! WOW!!! They were AMAZING and so so easy compared to making actual Philly Cheese Steak sandwiches, but please take my word when I say they tasted like the real deal. Huge thumbs up to all my fellow pinners. Make them, your husbands will love you for it.
I mean it, Brandon and Gavin both had seconds.
After dinner, it was present time…
Brandon really liked the card the kids made him.
The answer is Yes to all my fellow pinners. I totally stole the idea from Pinterest.
The kids answers to this little Father’s Day Questionnaire were quite precious. Daddy loved it!
If its not evident in this picture, Owen absolutely ADORES his Daddy.
The kids got Brandon some new Golf Shoes. Unfortunately, they did not make it in time so he was presented with a Order Confirmation Sheet saying they are on the way. Ooops, Mommy’s bad!
So I know some people think Brandon and I are a bit nerdy, but we really love doing puzzles together. It’s kind of our thing. Anyway, we just finished this really cool puzzle that is a famous design by Frank Lloyd Wright. Brandon and I were talking while working on the puzzle about how neat it would be to glue and frame some of the puzzles we do and have them framed to display around the house. Yep, here you have it! We both really liked the design of this puzzle and it was a lot of fun putting it together so I went and had it framed. Brandon was so shocked I did this and really loved it.
Once presents were opened, it was time for serious horseplay and wrestling with Brother G!
Thanks again for coming Gavin. You mean so much to our family and it was wonderful having you here to celebrate Brandon with us!
Happy Father’s Day to all you awesome Dad’s out there!
Grandpa Sam, Grandpa Thompson and Grandpa Burgess, you all share something very special, you all were WONDEFUL Fathers and Grandfather’s. Although you were not here on this Earth to be celebrated and spoiled by the ones that love you, please know that we took special time to pray and thank God for placing you on this Earth to touch the hundreds and thousands of lives that you did. We love you and miss you all dearly, you will never be forgotten.
