Colorado Avalanche Game

This past Monday was a super fun family day. If you don’t already know, Brandon LOVES hockey, so you can imagine how excited he was for that stinkin strike to be over with. We found out there was a 1pm game on Presidents Day, and since it happened to be Brandon’s day off we decided to jump at the opportunity to go to a game mid day as a family. We bought a family pack that included 4 seats, 4 meals and 4 drinks back in January. As you can imagine, Owen has been counting down the days up until game day for about 30+ days. Honestly, every morning he would calculate in his head how many for days until the Hockey Game. He woke up really early the morning of because he was filled with so much excitement that there were zero days left. He also shares Brandon’s big love for hockey, he is hooked to the TV when hockey is on. Since it was such a special family day outing we decided to ride the light rail to the Pepsi Center Downtown. The Light Rail is a Public Transit Train that goes all over the city of Denver and the Metro Areas. Owen & Autumn have been dying to ride it since we moved here so we decided what better day to ride it then to the big Hockey Game! I can not explain how much fun we had. The kids were so well behaved and completely entertained the entire game. They LOVED it and Daddy was on cloud 9 watching his kiddos share in his love for hockey. I have to admit, NHL games are super fun, I can’t wait to go again! Here are some pictures from our very fun filled family day.

Before we left, we took a few Family Pictures all dressed in our Avalanche Gear…

Owen quickly ran to the map upon arriving to the Light Rail station to see what Line we needed to take. This kid is so smart and was so excited to find out that we had to switch Lines half way there. That was like 2 train rides instead of 1 to him! P.S. we went on one of the coldest days in a long time hints why we were SO bundled up. It was 30 degrees and WINDY, it was freezing with that darn wind!

When we arrived to the Pepsi Center we walked into the lobby to discover it was Bernie’s Big Birthday Bash. Who is Bernie? The St. Bernard Mascot for the Colorado Avalanche. Since it was his Birthday Bash, they had about 5 different NHL Mascot’s there signing autographs along with Bernie. Autumn was pretty much terrified of all the Mascots, but Owen loved it and made sure to get a few Autographs on his Poster.

Once we found our seats and got settled, we went to get our free lunch before the game started. The kids both got a Personal Pan Pizza and a Pepsi. This is a big deal because I never let them get caffeinated drinks (sprite is usually the only soda they get) so this was a really special day.

Noise Maker Fan & Cotton Candy = The Perfect Combo for a Hockey Game!

Since the game was at 1pm and we had to catch the 11:45am train to get there, Autumn did not get a nap in. We didn’t end up leaving until close to 4pm and you would have never known she didn’t nap. She was so happy and filled with joy (and lots of sugar) the whole time. They were both awesome! With that said, on our 8 minute drive home from the light rail they were BOTH out!
