One word to sum up our trip to our Home Away from Home (New Mexico) is Awesome! One word to sum up my life since being back is BUSY! O my sweet goodness, things have been crazy busy for us since we got home a week ago and I honestly have no clue what I am doing blogging since I have a million and 1 other things I should be doing, but I am going to try really hard to sneak in this overdue post. With that being said, I am really going to try my very hardest to keep the writing short and let the pictures do the talking (mainly for times sake).
Since Owen was on Spring Break from school we decided it was the perfect time to make a trip back to NM to visit our friends and family. It’s been 6.5 months since we’ve been back, which is the longest I have ever been away from there, so it was definitely time. Needless to say we were pretty darn excited. Poor Brandon had to stay in CO bc of work, so the kiddos and I took off after Owen got out of school 2 Thursdays ago and we stayed a week and headed home last Thursday. For blogging sake, I’ll do my normal day by day run down of our week in NM.
Thursday-April 21st:
The kiddos said their goodbyes to Daddy before Owen headed off to school. I took Autumn to gymnastics, headed back to pick Owen up from school and we hit the road.
I wish I could say the drive was uneventful, but it was a WINDY WINDY mess almost the entire 6.5 hour drive. I was so tense when we finally got to my parents bc I was wrestling with my steering wheel to avoid getting blown of the Interstate. Lol. Other than that, it was good, the kids are great travelers :)
Welcome back to New Mexico aka Welcome back to the dessert.
Once we got to my parents, about 6pm, we mainly just stayed in and hung out. I was pooped from driving and the kids were just excited to be at Nana & Pampo’s.
Friday-March 22nd:
Friday was the only relaxing, non-busy, day on our trip. I ran a few errands that I wanted to run, we met my Brother-In-Law & Niece for Lunch and then we just stayed in and hung out with my parents. Perfect way to start our first day of Vacay!
Yummo! We miss Dion’s SO much. Luckily we just got one in Colorado Springs, so if I was ever desperate enough to drive 45 min for it I definitely could.
Hangin at Nana & Pampo’s house :)
Saturday-March 23rd:
Saturday was busy. Met our good friends (The Beistline’s) at the Zoo in the morning, picked up Abi, went back to my parents, Kids napped, went to church, came home, ate dinner, played with the 3 crazy cousins that were overjoyed to see each other, put the kids to bed, and then I headed out to meet up with some old friends I haven’t seen in years. It was a wonderful day, but BUSY BUSY BUSY!
The Burgess kiddos and The Beistline kiddos.
Flashback photo…
It’s crazy the difference a year makes with little ones. They love posing on this lion, haha.
My dear friend Jess and I have had both of our kiddos 6 weeks apart; Abby is 6 weeks older than Owen and Autumn is 6 weeks older than Isaac. Well it didn’t work out the 3rd time around as Jess is due next month and I am not even preggo. Best of luck Beistline Family as you are so close to meeting your new little baby boy, we are SO excited for your beautiful family. Miss you guys and it was wonderful getting to spend some time with you all!
Heading to church with the 3 kiddos in tow.
Pampo and his 3 grandkids. The kiddos do great together, great at sharing EXCEPT when it comes to Pampo. They are all VERY possessive of him.
My beautiful Sissy stopped by my parents after church to eat pizza with us and then she was off to work. Since she works nights, Abi stays at my parents on Saturday nights, so the cousins got to have a sleepover. Here is Autumn & Abi in their matching Dora Jammies and their Baby Bell Dolls. SO precious!
Story time with Pampo before Bedtime.
And then it was ‘ME’ time. I got to meet up with some of my dear childhood friends I haven’t seen in years, as in 10+ years. It was a wonderful night catching up. Above is me and my friend Lynette, we have known each other since we were 6!
Sunday- March 24th:
Sunday was family day :) Since my Dad is off all day on Sunday’s (poor guys is working his tail off these days) I dedicated the day to hanging with the fam. Plus Abi was over so a family day was a MUST. The cousins had a great time playing their hearts out. Once my sister came and got Abi and it was close to the kids bedtimes we headed out for a much needed Girls Night Out. We met about 6 other girlfriends Downtown at Zinc for Dinner & Drinks. It was super fun to catch up with some dear friends and Mommy Time is ALWAYS a bonus!
These grandbabies get spoiled by Nana. She made them some delicious pancakes & sausage that morning.
After all of us got dressed we decided to take advantage of the non-windy morning and head to the park before lunchtime,
She is SO beautiful! Yes, I am 1 proud Aunt!
Owen honestly had an Ouchy on his cheek that required a band-aid so of course Autumn and Abi needed one too. Haha.
Girls Night :)
I LOVE these ladies so much. From left to Right, Candice, Cammy, Me, and My Sis!
And here is the whole gang being silly. Left to right again Liz, Kaitlyn, Candice, Cammy, Me, Jess, Kaitlyn, and Kristin.
Monday-March 25th:
Monday morning, my sister, Kaitlyn and I (along with the kids of course) tried to meet at the park to let the kiddos play but it was freezing and windy. I think the kids played for a total of 5 minutes before begging to leave bc they were cold. We headed over to McDonalds for some Hot Chocolate & Play time instead. Later that day Autumn & I met our good friends The Cooks for some girl time, Lunch & Pedicures, SO much fun. Then that evening my parents, sister and I went for a family dinner @ Saide’s, YUM!
Autumn’s 1st Pedicure:
The Cook Girls (Christy, McKenzie, Hannah and Cami) and I decided after lunch at Jason’s Deli that it would be fun to take Autumn for her 1st Pedicure. I wasn’t too sure how she would do, but she LOVES painting her nails and she adores the cook girls (McKenzie used to babysit for us when we lived in NM) so I decided why not give it a shot. Wowzers, she LOVED it and did flawless. She sat perfectly still and really seemed to enjoy being pampered. The place we went to even had these adorable Pink Miniature Butterfly chairs for the little girls.
Autumn & Cami getting Pedi’s.
Hannah, Autumn & McKenzie. We miss these girls SO much!
Stinkin’ adorable.
Then it was off for a nice Family Dinner Out,
It’s times like these when having a Minivan REALLY comes in handy.
I think Sadie's is the #1 Restaurant I miss in NM. Nothing Compares :(
Tuesday-March 26th:
Monday morning we went to my Bestie, Melissa’s, house for a playday. The kids had a great time playing while all us mommies got to drink tea and chit chat it was a super fun morning. My sis and Abi stopped by my parents after naptime to hang out and eat dinner and then the kiddos and I went back to Melissa’s for some more playtime!
Playday fun. Melissa was so sweet and had me & my kiddos, my sis & niece and Leanne & her kiddos all over for a little reunion playday. Wow, I really miss these ladies. Pictures above, Abi & Aubryn, Linkin & Owen, and Miss Finnley.
Autumn and Abi could’ve spent all day in the playhouse in Melissa’s backyard. Little Cuties.
Sweet little friends.
Paper Airplane fun.
Too cool for school.
Silly faces. Owen cracks me up with his duck lips?!?!

Wednesday-March 27th:
Wednesday was Easter. Okay not really, but since I wouldn’t be with my family for actual Easter, we celebrated early. That morning we dressed the kiddos all up and headed to the Mall for some playtime and to visit the Easter Bunny. We played for a bit and then headed to get their pictures taken with the Easter Bunny. Well unfortunately the Easter Bunny didn’t show up to work that morning so that was a total bust, but the lady was nice enough to let us borrow the backdrop and take some Cousin pictures w/out the Bunny. Hahahaha. Since that part didn’t go as planned, we headed over to Red Robin to eat lunch. After that we went back to my parents to let the kids nap while we set up the Easter Egg Hunt stuff and prepared dinner. After naps, we did a gift exchange, an Easter Egg Hunt and then had a Big Family dinner. It was a perfect early Easter Celebration.
A quick stop at the carrousel,
And then off to see the Easter Bunny that wasn’t there. Lol. O’ well, super cute cousin picture with or without the Easter Bunny.
While the crew too a quick potty break, it allowed me to play a little dress up with Abi :)
And then we were off to lunch.
My babies and their beautiful Nana.
While they were napping we set up,
These kiddos are spoiled rotten.
Gorgeous Girls!
Ready for some Egg Huntin’
Thursday-March 28th:
Thursday morning we got up, got ready and it was time to hit the road :( We left about 9:30am and made a 2 hour pit stop in Las Vegas, NM to visit my Aunt & Uncle. We had a great time visiting and eating lunch with them. Then the next stop was home sweet home! We were very anxious to get back since we missed Daddy SO SO SO SO SO much!
Sad goodbyes :( Owen begged me over and over to leave him there. Poor kid really misses his Nana & Pampo.
Our time with my Uncle Joe & Auntie Bella aka Nino & Nina…
Eating Candy & Playing Pool.
And FINALLY we made it home to see Daddy…
:) :) :) :) :)
******************************************************
It was a super WONDERFUL trip. We loved getting to see all our wonderful family & friends who will always make New Mexico feel like home even though that is no longer technically our home. Thank you to all who rearranged their schedules to spend some quality time with me and my kiddos and a super HUGE THANKS to my parents for graciously taking us in for the week and for all the delicious meals you prepared for us. We love you all and miss you more than words could ever express, we are blessed beyond our wildest imagination! And although we had a wonderful time, we were so grateful to be back home, with daddy in the beautiful state of Colorado. This place really feels like home :)
P.S. An Easter post is coming soon I promise. Life is crazy busy right now so my apologies if it takes another week to get there.
