Rockies Game

On Tuesday I got an email from the Children’s Ministry Director at our Church saying that a family that attends Red Rocks Church  anonymously donated a family 4 pack of Tickets to the Rockies vs. Yankees game Wednesday night for them to give away. After reading the email about 3 hours after she sent it, I decided to email back and see if by some chance the tickets were still available. Much to my surprise they were!!! We decided to take advantage of a free family night out to the Rockies Game. I picked up the tickets Wednesday morning and was completely shocked to see how great of seats they were and how much each ticket cost?!?!?! Blown away by the generosity of others. Even though it poured rain for most of the game and it was terribly cold out, it was SUCH A FUN NIGHT! We were lucky enough to have covered seats, but it was still chilly chilly chilly. Owen was glued to the game the entire time and was sobbing when it was time to leave. Owen is SO into Baseball right now, especially since he is starting Tball soon (the last two practices have been canceled due to weather issues), but he did finally get to meet his team and get his uniform Wednesday afternoon before we headed to the game.

Evergreen Lake

Last Monday was the first Monday in a lllloooooonnnnngggg time that we had zero plans. No errands, no appointments, absolutely nothing. So we decided, very last minute, that it would be fun to drive up to Evergreen Lake, walk around, explore, enjoy the outdoors, and have a nice family picnic. We didn’t have a ton of time to pack up a picnic, so we threw together some drinks, fruit, and dessert and picked up Chipolte on the way. It was pretty chilly out, but it was SO nice to be outside with the family enjoying the peace and quiet. We did a nice 1.5 mile walk around the pretty Lake, had our picnic, and then drove down to a cool park along the creek to let the kiddos play. It was a PERFECT impromptu family outing.

The kids were pretty excited for our walk around the Lake.

More Play Day’s with Friends :)

I am just going to say, we have a busy busy busy month of May coming up. Mother’s Day Celebrations, End of the School Year, Brandon’s Grandparents are Celebrating their 60th Wedding Anniversary, Owen will be turning 5, my parents are coming to visit, etc. etc. etc. With that said, we have been trying to soak up all our spare time with our friends, before this month gets too busy.

Last Monday, Brandon went to play Golf with his Best Friend Travis, so the kids and I made some plans with our good friends, The Oppenlanders, to go to the Denver Zoo. It was an absolutely beautiful hot spring day and we had a blast!

This is exactly what Autumn & Eisley look like at gymnastics :) Guess that’s why they were mesmerized watching the monkey’s.

Super fun Zoo trip with our sweet friends!

To end such a fun filled day, we decided to try out this restaurant here called Rib City. O MY SWEET GOODNESS, they were by far the BEST ribs I have ever eaten. If you are a Denver local, you MUST go.

And if you like Fried Okra, it was also the BEST I have ever had. So yummy, can’t wait to take my parents there when they come in a couple weeks.

The next day, Brandon’s Dad invited us, along with his Sister and her family, to go out for a nice family dinner. We went to a local Italian Restaurant called Angie’s. It was so fun and long overdue to just have a family dinner out for no reason other than to hang out.

Dinner Fun! Thanks again Papa Bruce for treating us to a delicious meal!

Two days after that super nice hot sunny spring day, we were greeted with another glorious snow storm….

20130501_09083220130501_172210

I have to admit, I never ever thought Owen’s very 1st T-Ball practice would be cancelled because of snow on MAY 1st!!!! Craziness I tell you.

But no need to worry about that snow, because two days after that, we were back to having some more fun outside in the sun. On Friday I watched Owen’s BFF since my friend Michelle had a really busy day. I can’t even call it babysitting because the boys play play play the entire time I almost forget they are even around. Their favorite things are to play Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles or Star Wars. They honestly crack me up listening to them fight off all the imaginary bad guys. Lol. Since it was so nice out, I decided to set up the jumper in the backyard. They had the time of their lives playing/wrestling. After jumping they moved to the front where they rode bikes & drove the Power Wheel around. Owen had a blast with his bestie!

Other than that, we have just been trying to prepare as much as we can for the next couple weeks in May as it is going to be super crazy and it’s going to go by super fast. O yea, and to end with, the Burgess Children are now starting Chore Routines….

20130427_083156

Yay, for cleaning help!!!!!

Have a great week/weekend y’all!!!!!

One more and I am done, I swear. Owen made a Sombrero at Preschool and was so excited to wear it for Cinco de Mayo, so I want to do him justice and show off his picture in his sombrero.

He was even nice enough to let his little sis take a turn. Geez, they are so precious!
