Owen Alexander’s 4th Birthday Party

Owen’s good friend, Owen Alexander (aka Owen A.), celebrated his 4th Birthday this past weekend. He had a double Birthday party with his good friend Ethan at the Rio Rancho Aquatic Center. They had the whole pool rented just for their party and it was a blast. Both our kiddos LOVE LOVE LOVE to swim so they had the best time! Poor little Autumn’s lips were shivering and turning blue since she has zero body fat to keep her warm but she didn’t seem to mind at all, she just wanted to keep on swimming. It was a great time for the whole family hanging out with some great friends. Happy Birthday Owen A!

Jessica’s Belated 30th Birthday Dinner

As most of you already know, my sister (Jessica) turned 30 last month. We had a Girls Night Out to celebrate, but because of all our crazy schedules we never had a family Birthday dinner for her. My mom and I decided that it was better late than never so we decided to have a nice dinner for her last weekend. Unfortunately poor little Autumn woke up sick that morning so I ended up having to take her to the doctor in the middle of dinner so I missed a bit of the celebration. No biggy though because all the food was amazing and most importantly my sister had a wonderful time. Love you sissy and Happy Belated 30th Birthday!

I scored this Blues Clues Fabric for really cheap last time I was up in Denver so I finally got around to sewing some nice summer pj shorts for Owen. I was really starting to feel guilty that I always make stuff for Autumn and not much for my little man. He was so excited!!!!

Friday Fun

Before I get onto our Friday fun, this is how yesterday started off….

A trip to the doctors. After I dropped Owen off at school, Autumn and I headed to the doctors. My nasty cold turned into a yucky sinus infection. Thank goodness for the wonderful iPad, Autumn was super quite and very well behaved while I got all checked out.

The doctors orders were, lots of fluids, 1200mg Mucinex DM 2 times a day and 10 days of antibiotics. No fun. I somehow made it through the day and my wonderful husband took the kiddos to the park after work to give me some down time to rest.

After a day of antibiotics and a full nights rest, I woke up today feeling a bit better. Not great, but better. So since I am a stay at home Mom to a Preschooler and a Toddler there is not much time for rest, sick or not, so today proceeded like any other normal day. We started off with a trip to the grocery store and then to Burger King for lunch (mainly so the kids could burn off energy while I got to sit back and watch). Also I didn’t have to make lunch, added bonus. Then home for naps, for all of us that is. After naps the kids really wanted to go to the park, so after lots of convincing we headed off to the park. Again, great way to let them burn off energy.

Real quick before I get on to pics from our day, I wanted to show off this super cute dress I made for Autumn. I love the way she looks in halter tops, so I decided to be brave and design my own halter summer dress for her. I didn’t use a patter or tutorial, so I was super pleased with my final product…

Doesn’t she look adorable in it? I LOVE making little girl dresses!

Okay, back to today….

 

Here they are all loaded and ready to go. Today was a big day for Miss Autumn. Why? Well because she finally got to turn her car seat forward facing. She was so excited! We figured with her second Birthday right around the corner and her weight increasing (slowly but at least increasing), that today was the day. She was very pleased.

These kids LOVE to swing. Don’t they look so grown up?!?! I can’t believe my babies are almost 4 & 2!!!!!!!!!

I tell you this girl is one little dare devil. She thinks just because she sees her big bro do something that she should be able to do it too. Crazy girl spent almost her whole time at the park trying to master this curved ladder. And anyone who knows this child's determination, knows she HAS in fact mastered this ladder. Crazy Kid!

After the late afternoon park trip it was time to head home and get dinner ready. Tonight’s menu was Baked Chicken and Spinach Flautas with Corn and Beans. Yum yum yum. Another Pinterest Recipe of course…

And here you have it. It was so delish and the whole family LOVED it. Another winner in the Burgess household. For those who don’t know, A Flauta is basically a baked Taquito made with a flour tortilla instead of a corn tortilla.

 

After dinner we all headed out back. The kids played while Daddy mowed the lawn and I sat back and watched since I am still feeling kind of crummy. After daddy mowed the lawn he needed to water the grass a bit in some of the spots the grass isn’t growing so well. The kids decided it was really just time to get WET and have some fun.

And once a little gust of wind came, Owen was no longer too excited about his idea to get soaked in the hose. Hahaha.

Family Time

The past two days were Brandon’s days off. We didn’t have much on the agenda which was a good thing since I came down with a nasty cold. We pretty much just hung out and had lots of family time.

Monday night after a fun trip to the park we all came home and ate some delicious Ice Cream Sundaes with Chocolate Syrup and Sprinkles. The kids loved it! After the Sundaes, we let the kids watch about 45 minutes of Cars 2 before bed. Here they are enjoying their movie in their undies. Lol.

Autumn couldn’t hang for the whole movie because she was so tired, so once she went to bed, Owen got some awesome snuggle time with Daddy! So precious!!!! He is not a snuggly kid so this was so nice for Daddy!

On Tuesday we decided to have a nice brunch out with Autumn while Owen was still in school. We went to the Flying Star because Autumn LOVES their Mac N Cheese. It was a nice change only having to manage 1 kid while out at a restaurant instead of 2!

Autumn sure enjoys her one on one time with Mommy & Daddy while Bro is at school. It’s a nice break for all of us, even Owen!

Yesterday Brandon went Golfing with a friend for the afternoon (he so deserved a day of golf), so my parents invited the kids and I over for dinner. We had some delicious Tamales, Beans and Spanish Rice. Yum Yum Yum. Thanks again mom & dad for the amazing dinner. After dinner we went out back to play on the swing set, and then my awesome parents watched the kids for me while I went to the gym. It was a lovely evening. Thanks again for everything Mom & Dad. Love you guys so much!!!

Stinker 1 and Stinker 2!

Practicing his Soccer Skills. We signed the kids up for lots of fun summer activities. Owen will be joining Soccer & Taking Golf Lessons and Autumn is starting gymnastics, and then both kids are signed up for Swim Lessons. Its gonna be one fun fun summer for the Burgess kids!!!

And Owen’s favorite thing to do in Nana & Pampo’s Backyard it to throw the Soccer Ball on the Patio Roof and watch it roll down and catch it. He thinks it is the coolest thing ever!

And to leave you with a nice little laugh. Ever since I let the kids put on the jets in the Bath Tub last week, they constantly want to take a bath. So the other day I was finishing up some dishes after lunch and then I told the kids we could head upstairs so they could play in the bath. They went upstairs while I was finishing up. Once I finished, I headed upstairs to meet them and this is what I found….

Both of them were completely undressed and trying to get in the tub. Poor Autumn couldn’t finish getting her diaper off so it was just hanging there. Hahaha. They were very eager to get in and get those jets on!
