Reality meet 2012, 2012 meet Reality

A week into a New Year and reality has set in. I really thought life would slow down after Christmas was over but really it has just added a new big pile of to-do lists in my lap. O well, staying busy keeps life very interesting.

Before I go onto our weeks happenings I wanted to share a few projects I did for Christmas gifts this past year. People say I am crafty and creative but honestly the majority of my craftiness comes from other peoples ideas, so really I guess I am just one big copy cat. All my handmade gifts this year were ideas I found on….wait for it….wait for it…..PINTEREST. Duh!

Owen & Autumn’s friends either received a super hero dress up cape personalized with their initial or (above is Owen and Autumn modeling the capes they gave to Abby & Isaac)…

A Sleepover/Travel Pillow Case. It has a pocket on the front of the pillow case to keep the things you would need to take on a road trip (stuffed animal, flash cards, books, coloring book) or things you would take for a sleepover. It also has a handle so you can carry it over your arm. I also personalized the pocket with the child’s initial. So fun.

I let the kids have fun at the $ Store and pick out some things to stuff the pockets with. My kids seriously LOVE the $ Store.

As for my friends, they each recieved …

Some homemade Hand & Foot Sugar Scrub and…

A Reusable & Reversible Coffee Cup Cozy. These were so fun to make with all my extra fabric scraps I had piling up.

Simple, Fun & Practical. Love it.

Thanks for checking out all my fun stuff. I had a blast making all that stuff. Now I am busy making lots of baby shower gifts (for my dozens of friends that are pregnant) and Birthday gifts (since almost all of Owen’s friends were born in Feb or Mar). I tell you, life just never seems to slow down. As for this past week, we have been trying really hard to get back to reality. Taking down Christmas Décor, Getting back into the Pre-School routine, Cleaning, Grocery Shopping, Etc. Here are some fun pictures from our week….

This little guy was beyond excited to go back to school. I could not get him out of the house fast enough. So thankful he loves school. At least for now anyway.

As for Brandon’s days off this week, we spent the majority of the time cleaning, organizing and taking down the outdoor Christmas Decorations. The kids soaked up the good weather while Daddy was taking the lights down and played out front on the scooters and of course in their sweet Mustang…

Happy New Year!!

New Years Eve

Brandon was able to take off New Years Eve from work which made it so he could have another 4 day weekend like he got for Christmas. It was so nice having him home for another 4 strait days! This past Saturday (New Years Eve) was my Saturday to have my niece. I have to admit, having Brandon home was a huge help with 3 kiddos in the house. It was nice for him to be able to spend the day with us as he is usually at work when I have her here. We had no plans basically just hang out around the house. I got a call from Kaitlyn and she proposed the idea of getting together to let the kiddos ride around in their new Power Wheels together. Since we have the Cul De Sac we decided to just have them come over here. Owen was beyond excited when Olivia showed up with her sweet new ride, a Pink and Purple Jeep! They had an absolute blast driving around together and Autumn loved being the passenger in whichever car she wanted to ride in. They were so fun to watch. They would get quite distracted and sometimes it turned into bumper cars but luckily there were no injuries. Haha.

Don’t they look so grown up driving?!

Autumn just adores Olivia. I think Owen was a little sad that Autumn kept wanting to ride with Olivia instead of him. We tried to have Abi ride with Owen but she was way too freaked out to ride in it! Haha.

New Year's Part 1 039

Abi played it safe and just watched with Kaitlyn and I. (Please don’t mind my attire, I know I am no where near matching.)

New Year's Part 1 015

Linkin got to come out for a little bit to ride around too! Owen has such great friends!

New Year's Part 1 025

Once Linkin left had to leave Owen really wanted to ride in the Jeep with Olivia so I had to drive Autumn around. It is very uncomfortable and the car goes really really really slllooowww with me in it. Haha. (Again, I am aware I look ridiculous and don’t match!)

Then they had to give each others cars a try.

Later that afternoon we decided to go to church Saturday night since we are never able to go on Saturdays with Brandon’s work schedule. We dropped Abi home on our way to church and we met my parents at the 4:00pm service. It was nice changing things up and being able to go to church with my parents. After church we were invited to a New Years Party at Justin and Leannes house. They live directly across the street so it was nice to be able to walk right over! We stayed until about 9pm and then headed back home because the kiddos were exhausted and needed to go to bed. Brandon and I stayed up and enjoyed a nice quite evening together on the couch watching a movie. I would like to say I made it to midnight but that would be a lie. Haha. Im an old lady! It was such a fun relaxing night and I would not have wanted to celebrate the New Years any other way then with great friends and my amazing family! Happy 2012!!

New Year's Part 2 004

There were so many kiddos at the party. I am guessing around 15 kids between the ages of 1-6 years old. They all got along really well. I would never let my kids jump on anyone's couch but Justin and Leanne were encouraging the kiddos to have fun and go wild. Here they are jumping off the couch onto a pile of cushions. They had so so much fun.

New Year's Part 2 006

Anyone who knows Autumn knows she will not settle being left out despite being the youngest and smallest child there! She is so wild!

New Year's Part 2 017

Once the kids were tired of jumping off the couches, Justin and Leanne decided to move the couches and put up their jumper in their family room. The kids had an absolute BLAST!

New Year's Part 2 028New Year's Part 2 021

And again, Autumn was not about to sit back and watch the big kids have all the fun. Brandon and I were so nervous watching her in their with all the big kids. She did great though, she is a little toughie!

New Years Day

The New Year started off great, the kids both slept in until 8:15am. Yay!!! We took it easy in the morning, ran to the store, cleaned the house up and got to cooking for our guests we were going to have over. Our Pastor is a huge Kansa City Chiefs fan so we decided to have him and his family over to watch the Chiefs vs. Broncos game. Sad for us our team lost but it was so much fun haning out with our Pastor and his family. They have become such good friends of ours and the Kids just love playing with their girls. I forgot to take pictures so you will just have to trust me when I say that we all had a wonderful day!

New Year's Part 1 064

It is now tradition that I make my famous Chicken Corn Chowder for New Years Dinner. It takes FOREVER to make so it is a once a year kind of soup. It did not disappoint. It was DELICOUS! We also had Corn Bread, Cheese and Crackers, Chip and Brandon’s famous homemade Salsa, Nuts and Veggies. Yum yum yum!

New Year's Part 1 071New Year's Part 1 075

Here is Autumn before bed last night. Want to know why she has that look on her face? Well that is because she is taking ornaments off the tree AGAIN and she knows she is not allowed. Stinker!

January 2nd

I am pretty sure I did what half the world did today…take down Christmas decorations. It felt so good to get my house back to normal and take everything down, put away and organized. I feel like I am nesting and I am not anywhere near being pregnant. Guess I am just on a serious organization kick.

New Year's Part 1 079

I had two amazing helpers today!

Autumn was pretty hesitant to help since she has been getting yelled at for the past month for touching the ornaments. She finally got into it though!

New Year's Part 1 093

Once I pulled out the step ladder to help reach the higher ornaments the kids started getting wild.

They would get on the stop ladder, climb it, go under the handle and then run around the tree and do it over and over and over.

They had a blast and burnt off lots and lots of energy doing this. Even better!

Hope you all had a safe and fun New Year! Happy 2012!!!!!!

Cleaning Spree, New Toys & A Trip to the Mall…

Since Christmas, Owen and Autumn have been very very busy playing with all their new toys. I went on a MAJOR cleaning spree around the house to reorganize and de-clutter to make space for all their new stuff. Brandon and I cleaned out all four of our closets and came up with bags upon bags of old stuff to donate/give away. Once all the closets were all cleaned out and organized I made my way for the play room. I have 3 full bags of old toys, broken toys and no longer used toys to get rid of. That made tons of new space to put all their new stuff. Once I got everything cleaned out I made my way to Target to get a few storage bins to make things look nice and tidy. I feel so good now that everything is all cleaned up and organized and I am sure all our old stuff is getting more use somewhere else than it was here.

Owen and Autumn love playing with their new Little People Barn. It makes lots of fun animal sounds. They play with this so nicely together. Thanks Mimi for getting Autumn such a fun gift. It is getting tons of use!

12252011952

Owen’s Aunt Bev and Uncle Don sent him two really neat floor puzzles, a USA one and a Solar System one. They know him too well. Owen has become obsessed with puzzles. He is really good at 25-60 piece puzzles and can complete them with no assistance what so ever. Here he is putting together the solar system puzzle. Another obsession of his is space. I love how much his little mind is growing and learning lots of new things.

New Year's Part 1 003New Year's Part 1 002

Autumn’s Auntie JoAnn and Uncle Bob sent her a super cute set of dress up clothes for Christmas. She really loves to play dress up and prance around the house in these adorable dresses. Well, Owen did not want to feel left out so he decided to dress up with her. Haha. He got all dressed up with her and then quickly got embarrassed and took off the dress. He cracks me up!

Autumn’s hair is finally getting long enough to do some cute little hair styles with. Here is my new favorite hair style for her!

On Thursday we were just hanging out and decided to get out of the house to burn off some energy. With nothing to do we decided to take the kids to the mall to play in the play area since it was too cold to do anything outside. When we got to the mall play area it was PACKED! There were kids everywhere and no empty seats for the adults. Bummer. We went upstairs and let the kids ride some of the motorized toys instead. Then we walked around to burn off some energy and headed home. It made out to be a fun family afternoon out despite not being able to go play as planned.
