A Sick House and Abby's Birthday Party

First of all I want to apologize for my lack of blogging lately. I have been sick for about 2 full weeks now! I thought it was just allergies at first, but I kept progressively getting worse and worse. Well now Brandon has all the symptoms I have and none of us are getting any sleep because we cant breath and when we can we end up coughing our lungs up. Needless to say. Brandon and I both finally went to the doctors this morning. We both have Upper Respiratory Infections and Owen has an appointment with his pediatrician tomorrow morning because he has all the same symptoms as Brandon and I and he isn't sleeping much either these days because he is terribly congested. Lots of prayers for our health would be greatly appreciated.

Well despite all of us being sick the Burgess' have still managed to be quite busy lately. We are in the process of rearranging basically our entire house to make room for a new nursery and Owen's new Big Boy furniture that is going to be delivered the middle of this week. On top of that we have been attending Birthday party after Birthday party after Birthday party for about the past month. Speaking of Birthday Parties, one of Owen's Best Friends turned 2 this past weekend. I can't believe it! This is the friend that is just 6 weeks older than Owen. It seems like just yesterday they were weeks old and we were sleep deprived clueless parents. Well we are still clueless, just not sleep deprived. Anyway, Owen and I had a great time at Abby's Garden themed party sick and all. The kids played in the sandbox outside, colored the ground with sidewalk chalk and got to decorate these cute little flower pots with paint and stamps. They made a big mess and had lots of fun doing it. The weather was perfect and Abby seemed to really enjoy her special day. Here are some pictures from her Birthday party. Enjoy and Happy Birthday Abby. Here is the B-Day girl. Isn't she so cute? Here is Owen dragging around this little red wagon. And Livie, looking adorable as always. Abby and her Mommy painting her flower pot. Owen and Abby playing with a bucket of sidewalk chalk. Owen does this new thing. When you ask him what he is doing he puts his finger to his chin and taps it there, looks up and says, "humm" like he is really in a deep thought. Lol, too funny. Easter Photo Shoot

After Church on Saturday evening we went down to the bosque along the Rio Grande and did a photo shoot with the Altmans. It was mainly to get some nice pictures of Owen and Olivia all dressed up for Easter but we did manage to sneak in a few family photos too. We had so much fun and the kids had a blast running around with their Easter baskets looking adorable. Here are some of what we got. There were so many cute ones it was hard to choose which ones to put up. Enjoy.

Easter Morning, Egg Hunt & Party

Matthew 28: 5-7
"The angel said to the women, "Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay. Then go quickly and tell disciples; He has risen from the dead and is going ahead of you in Galilee. There you will see him. Now I have told you."

He has risen indeed! Hallelujah! Wow, what an amazing God we have. Since Owen is now old enough to start understanding why we do the things we do, like celebrate holidays, we decided to really do things up for Easter since it is the most important day of the year for us Christians. We tried to bring up the story of Easter in everything we did. It was so cute to hear him walking around the house saying, "He Risen, He Risen!" The most important thing to remember is that God has paid the ultimate sacrifice for our sins. Without his death on the cross we would have no hope in this fallen world we live in . Jesus was crucified, died and was buried; but on the 3rd day (Easter Sunday) he rose again from the dead and now sits at the right hand of God the Father.

Easter Morning:
Owen woke up to see what the Easter Bunny had left for him...

Thank You Easter Bunny. Mickey Mouse was a big hit. Along with the Mickey Mouse Spoon & Fork, Side walk chalk and some new sippy cups.

Easter Party:

We had a very nice Easter Party in the Afternoon to Celebrate Jesus Resurrection. We invited my parents, grandma and some very good friends of ours over for a delicious lunch and an egg hunt for the kiddos. For lunch we grilled some steak and asparagus. We also had potato casserole, deviled eggs, grape salad and rolls. Don't forget the amazing lemon cake topped with raspberries! Yummy! My Parents.

Coloring Eggs

Here is Owen and Daddy coloring Easter Eggs with markers Easter morning. We decided to use marking instead of actual Egg dye since Owen is very into doing things himself. His favorite phrase is, "I do it!"

His final product! Three eggs was just enough for a 2 year old attention span.

Easter Egg Play Day

So this week for play day we thought what would be better than to have an early Easter celebration for the kiddos. We all headed over to the other side of town to Jess and Abby's house for the festivities. First we pigged out on some delicious Berry Scones Jessica made along with some fresh fruit and chocolate dip that I brought over. It was very yummy! Then a couple of us snuck in the backyard and hid some Easter Eggs for the kids to hunt. Owen and Abby got the idea right away and were both on a mission to get as many eggs as they could. The younger two, Olivia & Miles, had fun just watching Owen and Abby scram around. They each had one egg and had a blast shaking them. Too cute. After the egg hunt the kids finally discovered there were yummy treats inside each egg, so of course they took some time to have a few too many snacks. Then they were all off to play on the slide and in the sand box. All in all it was a great and very fun morning!
Above is Olivia and below is Miles. They had fun shaking their eggs and watching Owen & Abby hunt Eggs.
Owen tasted his first Jelly Bean today and needless to say he loved them! In Owens words they are called, "Jumping Jeans" Olivia was so sweet sharing her snacks with Abby's dog Oden.Olivia and Abby on the slide. Owen going down the slide with his green egg filled with "Jumping Jeans" that he would not put down. There is always time for a little love and hugs with these two. They are precious.Owen and Abby playing in the sand box.

We tried really hard to get a picture with all four of them; lets just say it didn't go so well.

Corn on the Cob

Well as many of you know, Owen is not such a good eater. He sleeps, naps and plays well but eating is just something we have always struggled with him. Since the weather has been pretty warm around here we decided to invite my parents over for dinner on the grill last night. We made some delicious thick steaks, baked potatoes and corn on the cob. Corn is one of the few foods that Owen really likes so needless to say he was quite excited. This was the first time we attempted to have him eat it right off the cob. At first he looked kind of confused but it really didn't take him long to figure out how this was done. I think its his new favorite! Don't mind the shredded cheese on his tray. We had it out as a topping for the baked potatoes but of course Owen insisted on putting a pile of shredded cheese on his high chair tray even though he didn't want any potatoes. They have a mind of their own.

Daddy's Lunch

Owen loves when Daddy forgets to grab his lunch box on the way out the door in the morning. Why? Well because that means we get to take a trip to his work to give it to him. Here Owen is carrying Daddy's lunch box to the car. Too Cute!
